Pokey was born as a porcupine with needle sticking inward to the body. To Pokey, it was normal to feel painful by its own needle.
Whenever other porcupines would tell Pokey, “your needle should be pointing outside” or “If it hurts so much, why can’t you just point your needles outside?”, Pokey will try harder. However the harder Pokey tried, the stronger the needle stung. Soon, Pokey became scared of its own needle.
So Pokey’s mom and dad decided to brush and brush Pokey’s needle. They brush brush brushed until the needle was no longer sharp but fluffy and round.
For the first time in life, Pokey felt safe and comfortable by its own needle. Ever since, Pokey was no longer afraid of its own needle.
